Who I owe everything to.

Ever since my first day in the United States when I was still 17, a lot of people have been telling me, "Oh my goodness, Naras, you're so brave for moving all the way across the world" and such.

Sure, I was brave (crazy is probably a better word) for voluntarily moving 9500 miles away from home and all the luxury that comes with it, but I really couldn't have done it without my biggest support system: mom and dad.

My parents are the reason I am who I am until this very day. Thanks to them, I get to pursue my education in the US. Thanks to them, I become a strong and responsible individual. Thanks to them, I know who to look up to when it comes to parenting.

So, I think this is time for them to be recognized and introduced to you :)

My mama and me. And yes, she's petite!

My mama and me. And yes, she's petite!

This is my mama, Uky. For me, she's the real definition of one badass lady. (Pardon my language, mom.) She is humble, hardworking, strong, loving, and inspirational. My mom is hands down who I strive to be in life. She slays at work but always makes sure that her family is doing more than well. She also does a lot of charity because she loves to share her happiness with others.

My mom was always beside me and strengthened me throughout my pregnancy. Not only she told me how to be a good parent for Aiden, but she also demonstrated it by showering me and Aiden with love. She wanted me to keep my head up by showing me one hell of strong mom she is. I want to be such a great parent to Aiden as much as my mom is to me.

My beautiful mother is also my shopping partner in crime! Usually after work or on the weekend, we would go shopping for clothes and makeup. It broke my heart a little when she texted me couple of months ago that she missed having me around because she had no one like me to shop with. I owe her a girls' day out the next time I'm home.

My dad and Aiden. Two of my most favorite guys in the world.

My dad and Aiden. Two of my most favorite guys in the world.

My dad, Gatot (aka Nara – he goes by both. Nara is his middle/nick name.), is one hell of a guy that I adore. When I was a kid until now, I want the guy that I'm going to spend the rest of my life with is as smart, funny and loving as my dad. He is a nerd for classic rock and sci-fi, too.

He is stricter than my mom, I would say. However, I believe he is like that to discipline his children. And it works. He is the reason why I always strive to be discipline and independent. However, he's always there to help, too. My dad is the kind of guy who would reply my text if I texted him at 3 in the morning in Indonesia.

My dad also spends a lot of time with Aiden. It is such a blessing to know that Aiden and I both have the best father figure anyone could ask for.

With that being said, I just want to say that I love my parents with all of my heart. They are my everything, from the best support system to inspirations for life. I want to thank them for everything they have done and sacrificed to make me who I am today. I can never repay them, but I promise I will never let them down.

Mom and dad – Thank you, I love you, and I promise to make you proud. I hope to see you all again soon.
